Rock Your Socks

Yesterday was World Down Syndrome Day.  I have a theater friend in Dallas that has a daughter who sports the extra chromosome.  She is quite possibly one of the CUTEST chickies you ever have seen!  This year in honor of the day we were asked to "Rock our Socks"...so Alan and I did!

(In other news...blogger has an issue with the picture of my rocking socks...so I will leave you with Alan's.....someday I'll get mine up!)

Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing

Oh my stars am I a bad blogger or what?!  Seriously folks!!!  I mean, I know the 2 of you who read this have been checking daily for the last month and a half.  Where have I been?!

I've been in a show.

I was cast in Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing as a doctor (Dr. Cone) and a business-woman (Mrs. Denberg - in the story it's really a guy - but for our show -- it was me!).  Then, afte the first weekend some folks dropped out, so I picked up the role of Mrs. Yarby.  I was the trophy wife of Mr. Yarby.

Highlights of the role?  Acting the snob, screaming about a turtle ("I can't STAND reptiles...take that thing away!), and screaming about a toddler who put stickers on a suitcase ("HOWIE!!!! Just look at what that.......just look!!!!").  Seriously - fantastic role!  (There are no pictures of this as it was added at the end...there is however this fabulous backstage pic of me..)

Mrs. Denberg was a blast as I chased Fudge around stage on a tricycle.  Dr. Cone's best line? "You may want to get a new turtle, Peter" (as Fudge has EATEN his turtle and I 'gave' him prune juice to get it out!

BUT - the ABSOLUTE best part of the show?  Mercy was in it!  My little diva dog made her acting debut!  In her first scene she walked across the stage with 2 young girls who were 'dog walkers'.  She wore her harness dress made by her Aunt Donna and pranced/danced across the stage looking for treats.  Precious!

Then at the end of the story, Peter gets a dog (because Fudge ate his last pet).  Mercy was 'Turtle' the dog he got.  She sat in a box and just looked adorable.  I loved hearing the audience go "AWWWW" as the box she was in was opened.  She was PERFECT!  Love that fur baby!

As always, a great time acting under the direction of Webster Crocker -- he's truly fabulous!

Here are our headshots as well:

What's up in our world (otherwise known as phone dump)

Here's what's been going on in our world:
We kept Ms. Ally a few weekends ago. When we went to get her we found out she'd (finally) learned to sit up! She's such a sweet girl with a great personality!

Ally's favorite place to sleep is in your arms.  She fell asleep chewing on her finger...too sweet!

One Saturday recently we hit the local resale stores.  I scored these 2 dresses to add to my costume closet

On Sunday we went and ate lunch with several of our Indian friends.  Appearantly eating Indian food makes you very sleepy....

And...to end...a few pics of the fur babies......

Mercy isn't much of a morning person

              Lily loves my red chair

I was trying to take a nap, but Lily kept putting her VERY wet toy on my face and licking me until I pet her....not a very restful time.

A New Thing...

So, it's January.  Alan and I had hoped to go to Ireland for Christmas, but it was expensive and we just couldn't see going in debt to go.  So, after much discussion, I have a new thing to do....

I'm the newest Pampered Chef consultant in Sherman.

About 5 years ago I sold Pampered Chef in Granbury and was highly successful -- just got into other stuff and didn't stick with it.  When we got to thinking about me getting an extra job and stuff, the hours are so unpredictable and would pull me away from home several nights a week and possibly church.  That just didn't seem like a good plan.  Then we talked about how Pampered Chef allows you to make your own hours and such so that you can work as much or as little as you need in a week or month.  We decided that for now -- this was the way to go!  So, last Saturday I signed up, and ordered the mini kit (I have sooo much product already, we decided I could go with the mini kit for now.)

Well, on Wednesday it arrived!  I was pretty excited to have it and just today (due to church and other things eating up evenings) I opened it!

It's so fun to get new things!  Some of these things I already had, but the bag to carry product in, the apron, and a few products have changed since last time.  I'm so excited to try them out!

My Consultant Grand Opening is next Monday at 6:30.  I am excited to get to use these new things (along with the ones I already have) to show people how easy cooking can be!  If you are in the area, run on up Monday night!  If not - no worries!  If you love Pampered Chef products and want to support me, I have a website that you can order form.  It's as follows:

I'm looking forward to seeing where this takes me...and to getting to Ireland this summer with the extra funds! :)

Figuring it out...

Thanks to Erica I now know that if you want to add pictures, you compose in the HTML screen and then it lets you upload like a charm.  That, or figure out how to use Picasa Web Albums.  I have done both.  Therefore, there are updated pictures in the first post...and there is about to be a 'sick' picture of me.  The picture I am adding is from last Thursday.  I was horribly congested, coughing, and still calling it a monster cold.  This was not one of my worst days, but you can see how sick I look...

The cutie in the picture with me is my sweet nephew Christopher.  We were having a ball on the carousel after lunch, before entering the madness that is LegoLand.  We talked about things like, how do the horses go up and down?  Why couldn't I ride in the tea cup.  Where's Gram?  Where's Mommy? Where's Thomas?  And then we flashed out brilliant smiles for his Daddy on the way around.  We were on the inside of the carousel (lesson learned...pictures easier on outside horses..), so it isn't the best picture...but as you can see...I don't look sick.  But I was!  And there you have it.  3 posts in one week...breathe people!

Sick

First of all, I know that there are still no pictures.  When I go to upload them, it says I can only load them from the blog, my phone, Picasa web something or another or a URL.  Um...what happened to loading them from my silly ole computer?!

That said - to the topic at hand.  It would appear I'm sick...and I've shared it! (Yikes!)

Last Monday I started to feel achy and thought I was getting the flu, however, I never ran a fever and was mostly just congested.  Tylenol and Benedryl kept me going for the week as we ran around doing fun things (ie: ice skating, Trains at Northpark, LegoLand, etc).  Over the weekend I was still having a hard time with sinus stuff and coughing and a sore throat and all so I said that if I still felt bad Monday, I'd go to the doctor before the kids came back.  I have a student who has a compromised immune system so I couldn't be taking my cold in to him.  Just for the sake of my documentation (in case I ever have these symptoms again) here's how this cold thing went:

Monday night: achy and headache due to MAJOR congestion
Tuesday: achy and headache due to MAJOR congestion -- manageable with Tylenol every 4 hours and benedryl at night.
Wednesday: still a little achy, but not as bad; finally started draining so became stuffy - still just Tylenol and benedryl
Thursday: no more aches, but majorly stuffy!  Throat hurt due to drainage and coughing. same medicine as before.
Friday: no aches - super stuffy - sore throat - hacking cough.  Took some Tylenol with a decongestant in it - slept poorly.
Saturday: felt awful - so congested, lots of coughing, sore throat, etc.  Bought meds and finally slept.
Sunday: felt better, went to church.  COUGHING and some congestion.
Monday: COUGHING, some congestion, but finally felt 'better'.  Went to Dr.

Ok - so now you know....I went to the doctor, fully expecting her to say, "I'm sorry, you have a nasty cold...take whatever works...have a nice day."

She looked in my ear and said, "Oh, your ear is really red - I'd call that an ear infection.  I bet you have a sinus infection too."

"Yep, sinus infection too!  Looks like it's trying to move to your chest."

(listens to chest) "Oh!  It's already in your chest...you have bronchitis too!"

That's right friends - ear/sinus infection and bronchitis...which I have been hacking out into the public throughout the last week.  If you're sick and were in Dallas last week -- I'm sorry! :)  Anyway, I got a shot in the tush, some monster cough medicine (with codeine) and an antibiotic.  Oh, and orders not to work for at least Tuesday.  I can go back Wednesday if I want, but I don't have to go till Thursday.

I'm glad I went to the doctor today -- and I'm glad for a few days of rest! :)

P.S.  I would show you what a sick me looks like - but again - pictures are not uploading...anyone have any ideas?

(Dad - this is blog number 2!  Aren't you super proud of me?!)
