A New Blog

A New Blog.

Why?

Alan and I got to talking about the old blog and decided that it was time to switch to a joint blog.  My other one was 'The Life and Times of Leanne..." and was very apporpriate for my single life...however, a year into marraige...it's time to start a 'family blog'.  My sisters have cool names for their familys: "Neal House" or "Team Neal" and "Hutchins House", etc.  Alan and I decided we wanted a cool new name for our family and we have chosen Teacht Duigan.  Before you get too tongue tied, you pronounce that as "Chackt Die-gun" (roughly).  Teacht is the Irish word for home...being Alan is Irish, we found it fitting.  We, however, wanted to spare you from having to memorize how to spell the crazy Irish word, so the url is just 'theduigans.blogspot.com'.

For those who don't know too much about our family there is me...Leanne.  I am the wife of Alan and mommy of Mercy and Lily. (Don't get too excited, they're dogs).  I am a teacher of the hearing impaired.  I enjoy acting in both plays and musicals, as well as seeing them.  I attend 1st AG Denison, where I sing on the praise team.  I have become more of a homebody since getting married.  My idea of a relaxing night is me sitting in my big red chair with my puppies laying with me, while reading a good book on my kindle.  I know - I'm a wild child...

My favorite pic from Bridal Portraits...signature pose...framed in curtains...perfect for the theater gal!

Then there is Alan.  He's my husband.  He's from Ireland.  We met when I did a mission trip into his church in Galway.  We became friends, then started dating (thanks to Skype), and then decided to get married.  He moved here -- the rest, as they say -- is history.  He is an accountant by degree, but currently is working in debt collections with West Asset Management.  We look forward to the day he gets an accounting job!  He is involved with the Sherman Symphony Orchestra here in S-town, is a member at 1st AG with me and on the praise team as the accordion player.  He's kinda a home-body too.
The Irish honey...wedding day...isn't he cute?

Then we have Mercy.  She is a 3 year old, 5 pound puppy.  We used to think she was chihuahua/yorkie, but have recently found out she could be affenpinscher/brussels griffon....or a mixture of all of the above.  The bottom line is she is a sweetie.  She's our calm puppy.  She travels with us, sleeps lots, and loves belly rubs.

Sweet Mercy girl...

Finally there's Lily.  Hurrican Lily, Monster Lily...you get the idea.  Lily is a 9 month old puppy.  We think maybe Manchester Terrior mixed with Jack Russel or the like.  She has ears that she will likely never grow into.  We got her as a 3 pound pup at 7 weeks old.  At 6 months she weighed 18 pound...at 9...I'm guessing over 20...but who knows.  She is part goat...she will eat anything...A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G.! She digests toys, paper, cardboard, plastic, whole pecans (shells included), muscle relaxers, allergy meds....you name it...she'll eat it.  She's a mess!

check out the ears on that thing.....

So - that's us.  We aren't too exciting, but maybe sometime the puppies do will entertain you from time to time.  In the meantime...thanks for tuning in....

(Now that I can get some pics in -- here's the girls Christmas picture -- aren't they cute?)
