Birthday Saturday

Yesterday Allison and I cashed in on our Birthday 'presesnt'.  This year we asked for a day with mom.  We couldn't see the reason behind gift cards or scrambiling to get gifts...we'd rather just spend time together...and mom planned a fantastic day.  I'm sorry to say I was a bad blogger and we only have pics from the end of the day...so hold on...there are some coming!

We started off with me and mom getting our hair cut.  (This pic is from cast pics for Drowsy Chaperone - me dressed as Kitty...kinda - but it shows the short hair!)

Then we went and got mani's/pedi's. I have purple toenails with white and yellow flowers...they are SUPER CUTE!  Then we headed to lunch at La Madeline's where I had a yummy chicken pesto pasta and strawberry romanoff...seriously the best reason to go to La Madeline's!  After that we went shopping!  We went to Old Navy and I got some new shirts and a new dress (and I bought Alan a shirt too!).  Then we headed to Charming Charlie's.  This place is my closet heaven.  It's arranged by colors so all the pink clothes, shoes, scarves, and jewelry are together...then comes blue, then brown, then orange and so forth.  Seriously -- heaven.  I got one shirt there.  Then mom wanted to walk to Coldwater Creek and Allison and I obliged her.  Would you believe I got the cutest little black shirt for $15!  It was originally $80!  I love a good bargain! :)  We ended the day by visiting Grandmother.  (What better way?!) We did take some pics here.

I SERIOUSLY adore this woman!  At 95 and two years after a stroke things don't always come out the way she wants...so (to make a long story short) she told Allison to play like she had a boyfriend.  (For the record, she wanted to know about a guy who had taken her out...but oh the laughter!)

We love our Grandmother!

We decided that we should all squeeze in for one pic.  It isn't very good - but we all made it...3 generations!

And then it was time to come home.  A wonderful day! :)

Strutt Your Mutt 2013

Today Donna and I went to the SPCA's annual event - Strut Your Mutt.  All proceeds go toward the animals the SPCA brings in.  Donna and I went last year and I took Mercy, so this year Lily got to go and she was all smiles!

Donna and I agreed that we would do the 3K instead of the 5K...no need to be over-ambitious!  We signed in and then headed for the Bow Wow Bazaar.  I love this part because you get free samples.  We got 2 free bags of treats!  They also have a professional fur-tographer each year.  This year was way easier as Lily is definitely not camera shy!  Here's her pro shot:

Then it was time to walk.  There are no pics from this part as I was struggling to keep up with Lily!  As we walked we decided to stop for a few photo ops...

...and then headed back to the Bow Wow Bazaar to take a pic in front of the big SPCA animal logo.

After that we decided that it was time to head home...by way of the dog park and Buffalo Wild Wings.  McKinney used to be pet friendly on patios, etc.  The city has been cracking down on this so Lily and Lizz stayed in the van while we ate, but then slept.  Lily slept for about a day or so after the walk to rest up.  She is back to her normal shenanigans now though!

Show Number #13

I am excited to let you know that I will be playing the part of Kitty in the Drowsy Chaperone this summer.  She's the ditzy, blonde, showgirl...the comedic relief.  We start rehearsals today and rehearse through the first week of June.  We open show the second weekend of June and it runs through the end of June.  Then we will have a few weeks and will head for IRELAND!  Ahh, summer...thou are so close....and yet....SOOOO far away!

Go ahead and make plans to come see the show!

Rock Your Socks

Yesterday was World Down Syndrome Day.  I have a theater friend in Dallas that has a daughter who sports the extra chromosome.  She is quite possibly one of the CUTEST chickies you ever have seen!  This year in honor of the day we were asked to "Rock our Socks"...so Alan and I did!

(In other news...blogger has an issue with the picture of my rocking socks...so I will leave you with Alan's.....someday I'll get mine up!)

Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing

Oh my stars am I a bad blogger or what?!  Seriously folks!!!  I mean, I know the 2 of you who read this have been checking daily for the last month and a half.  Where have I been?!

I've been in a show.

I was cast in Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing as a doctor (Dr. Cone) and a business-woman (Mrs. Denberg - in the story it's really a guy - but for our show -- it was me!).  Then, afte the first weekend some folks dropped out, so I picked up the role of Mrs. Yarby.  I was the trophy wife of Mr. Yarby.

Highlights of the role?  Acting the snob, screaming about a turtle ("I can't STAND reptiles...take that thing away!), and screaming about a toddler who put stickers on a suitcase ("HOWIE!!!! Just look at what that.......just look!!!!").  Seriously - fantastic role!  (There are no pictures of this as it was added at the end...there is however this fabulous backstage pic of me..)

Mrs. Denberg was a blast as I chased Fudge around stage on a tricycle.  Dr. Cone's best line? "You may want to get a new turtle, Peter" (as Fudge has EATEN his turtle and I 'gave' him prune juice to get it out!

BUT - the ABSOLUTE best part of the show?  Mercy was in it!  My little diva dog made her acting debut!  In her first scene she walked across the stage with 2 young girls who were 'dog walkers'.  She wore her harness dress made by her Aunt Donna and pranced/danced across the stage looking for treats.  Precious!

Then at the end of the story, Peter gets a dog (because Fudge ate his last pet).  Mercy was 'Turtle' the dog he got.  She sat in a box and just looked adorable.  I loved hearing the audience go "AWWWW" as the box she was in was opened.  She was PERFECT!  Love that fur baby!

As always, a great time acting under the direction of Webster Crocker -- he's truly fabulous!

Here are our headshots as well:

What's up in our world (otherwise known as phone dump)

Here's what's been going on in our world:
We kept Ms. Ally a few weekends ago. When we went to get her we found out she'd (finally) learned to sit up! She's such a sweet girl with a great personality!

Ally's favorite place to sleep is in your arms.  She fell asleep chewing on her finger...too sweet!

One Saturday recently we hit the local resale stores.  I scored these 2 dresses to add to my costume closet

On Sunday we went and ate lunch with several of our Indian friends.  Appearantly eating Indian food makes you very sleepy....

And...to end...a few pics of the fur babies......

Mercy isn't much of a morning person

              Lily loves my red chair

I was trying to take a nap, but Lily kept putting her VERY wet toy on my face and licking me until I pet her....not a very restful time.
